The laser targets aging and sun damaged skin, creating microscopic wounds within specific areas beneath the top layer of skin. The body’s natural healing process is triggered, accelerating the growth of new collagen and healthy skin. Fractional Resurfacing can do many wonderful things for the skin.
The benefit of Fractional Laser Resurfacing over traditional laser resurfacing is that we can go MUCH deeper in the skin (especially for deep acne scars) but have a MUCH quicker recover.
How can Fractional Laser Resurfacing do this? The answer is amazing. This techniques creates micro laser spots and leaves some untreated non-lasered skin next to the laser-treated skin which will allow the laser-treated skin to heal and repair itself so much quicker. So we get the benefit of a much deeper treatment but don’t get the drawback of increased downtime. The most effective results occur with three to five treatments spaced about three weeks apart.
Side effects are minimal and typically involve swelling and a sunburned effect, both of which subside in a few days. Moisturizers alleviate these side effects. There is a minimal risk of infection or scarring.
In most cases there is very minimal downtime with Profractional®.
Because Profractional® has the impact of ablative lasers and the gentleness of non-ablative lasers, healing time is significantly faster than with most other types of treatment. Makeup can be worn immediately following the treatment.
Results will reach their full potential in two to three months. This time frame allows for complete healing and replacement of damaged tissue.
Physicians may use an anesthetic block or cream to reduce the discomfort of the procedure. Most clients who feel tenderness describe it as a prickling sensation.
Apply SPF 30 or higher every day, and avoid direct sunlight for three months after the procedure.
